Outline:

Our laboratory (Comparative Neurobiology) is studying chronobiology in invertebrates with a focus on physiological research in photoperiodism, dormancy and circadian rhythms. We rear insects and mollusks, and aims to develop studies associated with these research materials with various physiological approaches such as molecular genetics, neurophysiology and neuroanatomy. The current research area includes the neural and endocrine photoperiodic mechanisms of flies, heteropteran bugs, silkworms, snails, and the mechanism of the circa""bi""dian rhythm in coleopteran insects. We are now seeking an academic staff, who is flexible in thinking and working and willing to significantly develop researches in close collaboration with the current staff, Professor Sakiko Shiga and Assistant Professor Masaharu Hasebe. No experience is required with the experiment materials at the laboratory and the above research methodologies. The successful applicant will be responsible for not only research but also education of liberal arts, undergraduate, and graduate levels.
